Feeling all the jolly season, we have prepared the Jingle Mixer! Which are some very deary (?) rhymes about these anime that are coming back!... Get it? Rhymes and back? Ah! I´m sure you get it!

Also a nice reminder that we do not put where these series will stream or appear due to the nature in how the streaming services tend to announce their seasonal anime just a few days before they air.

Having that clear, and without further ado...Here are the series!

The Quintessential Quintuplets 2

Preview Author: Raitzeno

Type: TV series

Studio: (unknown as of writing)

Genre(s): Romance, Drama, Comedy, Harem

About the Series: Two’s company, three’s a crowd... But what’s five? Fuutarou Uesugi has begun to find that five is a tough but possibly satisfying trial. As a poor student who dragged himself to the top of the class through sheer effort, Fuutarou lands a sweet gig tutoring the children of a rich businessman thanks to a connection via his own father. But the children in question turn out to be his new classmates and quintuplets! While they still love pulling the ol’ switcheroo, each of these problem students have completely different strengths, tastes, and learning styles - something Fuutarou has to learn to cope with if he hopes to finance his college education. But in the process of learning more about each other, he and the girls have begun to find their relationships growing beyond a tutor and his students…

A hugely popular harem show and the spark of not just a few Waifu Wars among both the general public and within Ani-TAY itself, The Quintessential Quintuplets is a delightful high school romance with plenty of character growth, both so far and yet to come. Its manga is quite popular around here, so we’re very much looking forward to seeing how far we’ll get in the next season. (But smart money is on a third season coming up; the manga isn’t complete yet, and the author has been dragging out what currently looks like the end...)

A Certain Scientific Railgun T (S3)

Preview Author:Raitzeno

Type: TV series

Studio: J.C. Staff

Genre(s): Sci-fi, Action, Comedy, Romance…?

About the Series: A spinoff of A Certain Magical Index, Railgun focuses on Mikoto Misaka, the second-most powerful Esper in Academy City. Though she’s only a second-year middle school student, Misaka’s “electromaster” powers are already well-known for both problem-solving and occasional collateral damage. She comes with a colorful cast of supporting characters who both make excellent comedic foils across all possible combinations and form a surprisingly well-balanced team when all of them are combined and set to a purpose - usually saving Academy City from some crisis born of its own corruption and/or hubris.

While Kamijou’s (mis)adventures explore the juxtaposition and conflict between the scientific Espers and various actually-magical religious groups, Misaka’s story is generally pure, imaginative, but well-executed sci-fi. Railgun is more grounded (pun intended) than its more-mystical parent series, but it’s widely hailed as more enjoyable due to the solid core of characters making up Misaka’s inner circle and deep worldbuilding of Academy City (as opposed to Touma’s ever-expanding harem and constant globetrotting). While there is occasional overlap, it’s always accompanied by a fresh perspective and some behind-the-scenes details from Misaka’s side, and most of her adventures have nothing to do with him. While she occasionally needs a little help from her friends, she’s certainly no damsel in distress!

Jingle Mixer:

Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica Side Story

Preview Author: Doctorkev

Type: TV Series

Studio: Shaft

Genre(s): Magical Girl, Dark Fantasy

About the Series: 2011’s Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica caused the “dark magical girls” subgenre to explode, with many copycat series appearing in subsequent years. Apart from two compilation movies plus a single movie sequel, the franchise has lain dormant after lead writer Gen Urobuchi and chief director Akiyuki Shinbou declined to continue the story. In the interim, Aniplex released Magia Record - an Android/iOS gacha game somewhat similar to its mega-popular Fate/Grand Order (FGO). Now, following in FGO’s footsteps, Magia Record has its own upcoming anime adaptation. Note this is not a sequel, as the name hints, this is merely a side story that presumably fits into one of the multiple timelines referenced in the original show. It is also not written by Urobuchi, though Shaft remains the primary production studio and Shinbou is involved as animation supervisor.

So far it is unclear how closely the anime adaptation will stick to the game’s story as the first two episodes that premiered at Anime NYC 2019 demonstrated some deviations, including a new magical girl character not from the game. What is clear is that the main cast includes game characters Iroha Tamaki and Yachiyo Nanami as they investigate the appearance of “Rumors” in their city of Kamihama. If the game’s storyline is followed, expect Madoka and co. from the original anime to pop up at some point.

The original show was 12 almost perfect episodes of existential horror, pain and misery mixed with a tiny shard of hope. Magia Record the game is significantly lighter in tone and the story may need to be altered for the anime so as not to disappoint fans of the original looking for another chance to have their heart ripped out and stamped on by magical loli waifus battling with despair and tortured destinies.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen

Written by: Requiem

Studio: DEEEEEEEEEEN (Deen)

Genre: Fantasy, Action, 90s

Type: Reboot

About the Series:

Orphen was once the most promising student at the school of sorcery known as the Tower of Fang, but left the tower under shady circumstances and these days works in unsavory business like moneylending. That is until he is drawn against his will into an attempted marriage scam and encounters a terrifying Dragon called Bloody August with whom he has a deep history. Now he travels with an heiress who won’t leave him alone, a long suffering apprentice, and two mostly useless dwarves as he attempts to (for various spoilery reasons) protect Bloody August from other sorcerers sent by the Tower.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen was one of the great shounen style fantasy shows of the late 90s, although-despite a dedicated fanbase and a run on Adult Swim it never reached the heights of shows like Outlaw Star. This new series is a fresh reboot and a complete adaptation of the novels. It’s good old-fashioned fantasy hijinks in a world awash with isekai. It’s already been delayed once, but those with nostalgia for the original show are waiting with great anticipation for Winter 2020.

Jingle Mixer:

The tower of Fang

Where people study to become wizards

Orphen will make a blast

On a setting

That is not an Isekai!

Time to Catch Up: None, unless you want to watch the original show, which would be 23.5 hours
