Today Toei Animation has officially revealed that it has teamed up with the Chinese film company “A Really Good Film” in a Live-Action adaptation of Saint Seiya.
Most details are unknown, with the exception of the producers who are Yoshi Ikezawa andJoseph Chou; alongside the Executive Producers who are Tim Kwok, Miguel Faura, Kozo Morishita and the Mangaka Masami Kurumada.
The website eiga has announced that the Polish Director Tomasz Bagiński will be the one directing it.
According to IMDb the movie will be released on 2018, and it is under “production”.
Saint Seiya´s creator, Masami Kurumada said the following:
“This is for our loyal fanbase who have supported Seiya for the last 30 years as well as the new generation of fans”
Kozo Morishita from Toei say the following.
“We are very excited to be partnering with ARGF to bring this title to a worldwide audience as a live-action feature film, which we hope to be the first of many more to come from Toei’s large IP stable.”
Jefrey Chan from A really Good Film said as follows:
“After almost two years of developing the project with my fellow producers, it still feels surreal to me to be able to work on such a fantastic animation franchise of which I’m a big fan myself.”
Saint Seiya is a manga made by Masami Kuromada which centers on the Saints, warriors who can break the sky with their fist and crack the earth with their kicks; now, these warriors use the power of the universe inside of them, called “Cosmos”, and with the protection of armors based on the constellations, they will protect the Goddess Athena from every treath that tries to defy her! Between their ranks there it is Seiya, the Pegasus Saint who is fated to become one of Athena´s most powerful allies!
