Title: Shunkan Sentimental | Artist: SCANDAL | Show: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Continuing on with my theme of Fullmaytal Alchemist, I am doing my favorite ending from the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise, much like last time was my favorite opening. Of course, as previously stated, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood has an amazing stable of opening and endings themes, so it is so damn hard to choose my favorites. I could have gone with any of Brotherhood’s endings, because they are all just so damn good, but for very different reasons. Like I love the first ending because of how it looks like it was drawn by kids. Or how I like the second ending for the sheer quality of its song. Or how I love that the third ending is basically a love letter to the ladies of Fullmetal Alchemist. But time and again one of Brotherhood’s endings always stood out to me more than the others, and that is its fourth ending, “Shunkan Sentimental” by SCANDAL.

The reason this ending always stood out to me is because it is essentially an opening theme that was stuck to the end of the episodes of Brotherhood it was used on. Sure it is not quite animated enough to be an opening, there is a lot of still images and some...odd animation choices (dat Winry power walk, yo!) , but that song is unmistakeably the kind of song that would, and probably should, have been used for an anime’s opening. This song is so good that it instantly turned me into a fan of SCANDAL the first time I heard it. Of course, the full version is better.
