If you haven’t seen Anohana, go watch it now. If you’ve seen Anohana and didn’t tear up at the end, you are either a liar or a monster.

Aoi Shiori is the OP for Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and is performed by the band Galileo Galilei.

Why Did I Choose It?

Spring has finally arrived and now that the Your Lie in April OP/EDs have been exhausted, I decided to go with Aoi Shiori precisely because how fitting it seems as a spring song. I enjoyed the way that the lyrics call back to more nostalgic time for the characters within the show, and that feeling really carries over while listening to it today.

In particular, the visuals perfectly show the lingering pain all the characters feel in their lives as they struggle to come to terms with the loss of their group of friends. However, this contrasts nicely with the end of the opening which shows them beginning to become friends again, summing up the overall feeling of the series effectively.
