Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis Novel Series Gets Anime Adaptation

With Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans coming to an end in a week and a half, it’s only natural that we start getting announcements about what is to follow. We already knew that the next two episode in the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin OVA series were due out in 2018 and will presumably wrap up that series unless they plan for it to turn into a remake of the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam, which I would be completely okay with. On top of that they announced the second season of Gundam Thunderbolt months ago with its first episode premiering on March 24th with the other three episodes to air one at a time over the next three months. We don’t yet have a full-fledged Gundam series for this fall, and while details are scarce, an anime adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis has been announced with the official website due to go up on March 24th.

And some translated info:

Here’s the official story summary:

“Universal Century 0096. Several months have passed since the incident surrounding Laplace’s box also known as the the Universal Century Charter. The Earth Federation Forces dispatches a group of investigators to the severed Axis which is drifting outside the Earth Sphere. Two civilians participate as members of the research group: Arlette Almage and Dalton Hyleg. Both have pasts with government service to the Principality of Zeon and Neo Zeon as an engineer and test pilot. Having infiltrated Axis, the investigators come under attack inside a base where no one should be. Arlette and Dalton are confronted with an incident they never imagined.”

The Twilight Axis novel series is still ongoing to my knowledge so how they plan to adapt it is anyone’s guess, and without a format reveal there’s nothing to indicate that this is the fall season’s Gundam series. If anything I imagine it’ll get the OVA treatment similar to Gundam Unicorn, The Origin, and Thunderbolt. We’ll likely find out more, and perhaps even get a teaser, when the official website goes live this friday at this address(If you click on it you’ll get just get a 403 Forbidden page.):
