Nope this is not a joke, it’s an actual Impressions Article on a 90 second Trailer. After a season of Unicorn as the only Gundam on TV I’m looking forward to the return of the Orphans to the spot light. Following the ending that left the Universe of IBO in a very different shape then it had been previously, our heroes are totally in a state of flux in their position in the world.

Note there will be Spoilers for Season 2

As the trailer opens it beings with a shot of Biscuit’s memorial implying his death is still clearly is having an effect on the young fighters. Considering the narrative significance his death had previously it’s not a huge surprise his ghost haunts them still.

From there we’re treated to scenes of two principals; Mikazuki and Orga. While Mikazuki hasn’t changed much in terms of apperance; the key image and spoiler tag reveals that from over use of the Alaya-Vijnana system in the final of Season One he’s semi-permanently lost use of his right arm and left eye. The only time he can use them is when he’s bonded with the Barbatos.

Orga on the other hand has changed. While still wearing his CCS/Tekkadan commanders jacketfor effect, his main outfit is now a suit. This is because since the end of Season One with the successes in Edmonton Tekkadan has grown exponentially making Orga in a sense a reputable business man. Instead of a commander of an army comprised of mentally broken child soldiers as he was previously. Of course he still keeps his overwhelming desire to protect his family.

The next section of the trailer shows off various new and returning characters. Including some of the original Orphans who survived the first season and likely new recruits to Tekkadan, if I had to put early money is will likely become cannon fodder going forward. We also get to see Cookie and Cracker who have as Biscuit always wanted finally gone to school the “... National School” I’m personally guessing Mars.

We also get to see Kudelia who now unsurprisingly is also wearing a suit. Likely signifying her important new role in the IBO Universe. Of course considering the challenges faced by almost every Gundam Princess her new job wont be an easy one.

This is likely the case because of whom is not shown yet in the trailer, McGillis Farheed. Now the undisputed ruler of Gjallahorn and the Seven Stars. Following his successful coup against his father and allied families in the wake of the Edmonton Election.

Finally we get a glimpse of new red Mobile Suit models that look more and more like Knightmare Frames from Code Geass by the season and the new Gundam Barbatos Lupus. Which according to Sunrise has undergone such thorough reworking and upgrades it might as well be a new machine.

Anyways I hope you liked this. It’s kinda to serve as a refresher for myself as much as anyone else. It’s also fun to get a new glimpse into one of my favorite modern Gundam universes again. Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphpans will return with world wide streaming next season.
